The more meaningful habit
During this week I read the
seven habits of highly effective people. I will name the habits and then
choose the one that I believe will help me fill my life with passion.
1. Be proactive
2. Begin with the end in mind
3. Put first things first
4. Think win/win
5. Seek first to understand
… then to be understood
6. Synergize
7. Sharpen the saw
I cannot choose one, because I
believe some of them can help me to fill my life with passion. Here are the ones
I chose to begin with the end in mind, seek first to understand and then to be understood,
and finally sharpen the saw.
Why did I choose these habits?
I realized it is something I am lacking and if I develop these habits will
allow me to follow my goals with more passion. I am willing to look for a
clearer vision and more effectiveness. I believe it will be easier for me to
choose my path as I analyzed which one can help me to become the person I and
my Heavenly Father wants me to be. It will be easier for me to choose between
options if I remember the end, my principles would not be compromised and I
will have peace of mind which can lead to passion for living and doing.
The second habit is to seek
first to understand and then to be understood. My nature is to rush and give
advice, to try to fix things, and I can recognize it is something I did not
like as a young woman, I felt underestimated. Now, I do the same, but I know
now that it is our nature, but I also know it can be changed if we put in the
effort to do so. So, I want to change, I want to allow others to be heard
and I want to make better judgments, this is how we begging by listening to
others. I also want others to understand my ideas. I believe I am not good at
explaining myself but I can get better if I practice; I have my family to start
practicing this ability.
The third habit is to sharpen
the saw. How important it is to not only focus on one aspect, namely spiritual,
physical, mental, and social or emotional. But that is what we do sometimes. We
focus on the one we lack or we like the most, but to be a whole as a person it
is important to include all of them. It seems difficult for me to pay attention
to all the aspects but if we do it little by little, I am sure great things can
be accomplished. I am glad to not be alone in this process. I appreciate family
and friends that walk along the way with me. But above all, I appreciate the
company of Christ, Heavenly Father, and the Holy Ghost that I can feel they are
always there watching me and trying to guide me. If I keep my saw sharp, I will
hear their advice that will lead me to become the person they see I can be.
What is or are the habits that
you will choose to add passion to your life?
