Entrepreneur Journal Week 14

The Finish Line This is my last entrepreneur journal as a student of this class. My final words are to finish your journey. I enjoy the talk of President Monson about finishers wanted, if you have time, please listen to the speech. I also enjoy the story of Tom Monaghan and I admire his willingness to learn and give to others. I will look for ways to share what I have with others. From the launching Leaders videos, I learned to believe in myself, it is something that I still working on. I know this is one of the things holding me to progress as an entrepreneur. I will keep trying until I believe in myself. What is it about? Why do some people have so much confidence and others lack confidence? I guess is part of what we need to conquer to transform into the person we want to be. My final words are for me in the future and for others that need these words. You are doing great, please keep going and learning, remember that finishers are wanted. You can be a finisher if you decid...

Entrepreneur Journal Week 13

Personal Learning During the week I learned that it is okay to work for big companies. Everything is a learning process, and, in the end, it will be an experience to make better decisions and it is a path that will lead you to your entrepreneur goal. I also learn to do what I like to do and find those that have the same interests as me. Find something fun that helps me to progress. Choose something fun as a career, bearing in mind that in a few years, it could change. I also learned that being a generalist is better than specializing in a topic or subject. Pay attention to your mentor's advice and make it happen. Mentors can be anyone that you admire. Every day believe in yourself and when failure comes, it is part of being an entrepreneur. I do not see myself as a young entrepreneur. I think I have started late, but better late than ever.   Creativity is found in creative thinking, expertise, and motivation. I also learned that changing your chip will help you see you...

Entrepreneur Journal Week 12

Virtue and Integrity  Virtue is a behavior with high moral values, while integrity is, to be honest, it is a state to be whole and undivided. Why are these values important for an economy? I believe virtue and integrity will lead to a better society in which everyone looks and cares for others, not only oneself. Related to work or companies, these two values will produce a healthier and better environment for coworkers and clients. Customers will trust employees and will look for their services, and the economy of the place will get better. The real justification for business, according to Charles Handy, "Is to make a profit so that the business can do something more or better." As I have been learning, if I want my business to succeed, I must look to transcend. Is there a better way than earning money to make the world a better place, starting with the employees, then the neighborhood, and then going bigger and bigger.  One of the solutions that I agree with Handy is f...

Entrepreneur Journal Week 11

A Personal View of Money The way I looked at money as a kid was like something that we did not have and that we needed to hide from others because they wanted to still it. Now that I am bigger, the knowledge that I have been acquiring helps me see money as a tool that can be shared, and that helps me keep learning and enjoying some activities in life. I know it is important to work to earn money. For me, it is important to save money and make a budget to spend money on groceries, school, car maintenance, and entertainment. It is also important to share with others; one way to do it is through fast offerings. I know money can be used for wrong activities or good.   As a kid, I saw money as something that couldn't be spent or shared. Now I can see that it is a matter of organizing and could and should be shared. My lenses to see money had changed. Before, it was difficult to obtain money, and people became greedy. Now, I can see different ways to obtain money and various projects t...

Entrepreneur Journal Week 10

The Process of Becoming During this week, I learned that hierarchy benefits companies in making choices and that only by encouraging change and experimentation can companies of all sizes adapt and grow in the midst of much uncertainty. But what I like the most is to think of myself as someone that can do great things and much good. I want to take the challenge to go big, dream big and pursue my goal. I am working on my thoughts; I think I am the number one saboteur of my work. I can see so much good in the work of others, in their personalities, but when it is about me, I am so harsh. The good thing is that now I can see it. It is part of changing it. It hasn't gone, I still have thought of discouragement, but then I recognized that I am not perfect, I am learning, and there are things that others like about me and my work, and I choose to trust them. I want to spend 20% of my day pursuing my big dream. The thing is that I like to learn so many things, which is not bad; I think...

Entrepreneur Journal Week 09

A Great Leader From Guy Kawasaki the concept that stood out for me is trusting people, this makes me think about Heavenly Father. He is trusting that I will choose correctly and return to Him. He is trusting me with 5 children to care for them, to walk with them, and to love them as he loves them. Now I can think that He trusts that I can be a  disciple of Christ and that I will serve others. This leads me to trust more in Him. He knows I can become a baker. From Frank Levinson, I got to hire nice and caring people. From Carly Fiorina, I learned that leadership is based on three abilities 1. Capability, 2. Collaborations, and  3. Character. She gave some ideas about capability that were interesting to me. I want to be a good leader, especially in my family. These ideas are to keep innovating, taking risks, and celebrating new ideas. I keep thinking that if I start practicing with my family when the time comes that I manage a working team, it will be easier for me to contin...

Entrepreneur Journal Week 08

Excellence Does Not Come Easily or Quickly Elder Holland addressing students from BYU stated, "Excellence does not come easily or quickly." The phrase gives me the idea to keep pursuing my goals even when it is hard. Life is not easy, it is beautiful even with the difficulties that come with it, but sometimes it feels that you are alone and that you have given everything. But guess what? You are not alone, and you are in the process of refinement. And that hurt, but it is possible thanks to the Atonement of Christ. President Thomas S. Monson said, " Mortality is a period of testing, a time to prove ourselves worthy to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. To be tested, we must sometimes face challenges and difficulties." I know challenges are not so pretty, but I can testify, they have been great sources of learning and strengthening. I can say, difficulties make me humble myself and trust more in God.   I want to remember the words of Elder Holland. He sai...
