Entrepreneur Journal Week 11

A Personal View of Money

The way I looked at money as a kid was like something that we did not have and that we needed to hide from others because they wanted to still it. Now that I am bigger, the knowledge that I have been acquiring helps me see money as a tool that can be shared, and that helps me keep learning and enjoying some activities in life. I know it is important to work to earn money. For me, it is important to save money and make a budget to spend money on groceries, school, car maintenance, and entertainment. It is also important to share with others; one way to do it is through fast offerings. I know money can be used for wrong activities or good.

As a kid, I saw money as something that couldn't be spent or shared. Now I can see that it is a matter of organizing and could and should be shared. My lenses to see money had changed. Before, it was difficult to obtain money, and people became greedy. Now, I can see different ways to obtain money and various projects to spend it on. Paying for things helps us see money as a tool and not as a possession.

 Rules to prosper.

Rule 1. Seek the Lord and have hope in him.

Rule 2. Keep the commandments, which include the temporal ones, tithing, and fast offerings.

Rule 3. Think about money and plan how you can become self-reliant.

Rule 4. Take advantage of chances for learning so you will not be ignorant of these matters. Education, as President Hinckley has taught us, is the Key to Opportunity.

Rule 5. Learn the laws upon which the blessings of wealth are predicated.

Rule 6. Do not send away the naked, the hungry, the thirsty or the sick, or those who are held captive.

I am glad that any earthly concept is related to spiritual matters. It is what helps me to stay focused on my goal. I do not follow all the rules, but I will pay more attention to them.
